Life Lately – Weekend+ Edition

This weekend was a busy one…whew! Let’s rewind to Friday to begin…

Friday is the day I finally committed to starting my own blog. It’s an idea I’ve been toying around with for YEARS and it was way overdue to take the leap by signing up for a hosting site and hitting publish. After a few hours of building the skeleton of the site, I was feeling like a hermit and itching to get outside – time for a walk around the neighborhood with my 2 favorites!

After walking and relaxing, I was ready to eat (what’s new?). Adrian suggested going to Dos Carlitos for Mexican food. We started dinner by demolishing the chips and salsa and ordering a pitcher of margaritas. Followed by my favorite grilled veggie tostada salad (womp, womp, forgot to snap a pic).

The next day we were up early for a fun day at Hurricane Harbor with my brother and his family. I had recently heard about a local bakery that is only open on Saturday mornings, so we made a quick pitstop at the Bakery Farmstand on our way to my brother’s house. If you are ever in Los Olivos on a Saturday morning, I highly recommend stopping by the Farmstand! I had their “Ooey Gooey Bran Muffin with Peaches.”

Then is was off to Hurricane Harbor! Such a fun day with my brother’s family. We were there from noon to 7:30 and left with some exhausted kiddos (and adults!). The lines were crazy since it was a Saturday but I went on 3 slides and spent tons of time in the wading pools with my adorable 18 month old nephew.

I stayed at my brother’s that night (Adrian has work the next day) and stayed up WAY too late (we’re talking 4am here) catching up with my brother. Luckily, I got to wake up to the happiest little nephew! It made up for the 3 hours of sleep.

Then it was off to my aunt’s house for my cousin, Kylee’s, 20th birthday party (happy birthday Ky!!). Party at my aunt’s house = more pool time!

Then it was off to my parents’ house because my mom kindly offered to drive me to back home the next day. We spent Sunday night eating air-popped popcorn covered in coconut oil (SO GOOD – try it, you’ll thank me!) and watching the Olympic Trials! I am over-the-moon excited for the Olympics in August. CANNOT. WAIT.

After getting to sleep in a bit my mom and I woke up; had some steel-cut oatmeal with flaxseed, chia seeds, and bananas; and headed out for a run. We got caught up talking in our PJs, so it was already getting hot for our run.

Then, we went to go see Pets in 3D to break up the drive home. I love kids movies, but to be honest, I just thought this one was just okay – definitely not on Frozen or Up level!

If you’re still reading by now, thank you for sticking it out – that was a marathon of a post! After a weekend of eating out and being away from home, I am definitely ready to get some good workouts and healthy eats in this week because next week I am off to see the Dixie Chicks in Las Vegas with my best friend from college!!!
